Cammino “Tra fede e natura”

The Path “Between Faith and Nature” (Cammino tra Fede e Natura) is a circular hiking and devotional itinerary connecting the Brenta and Piave rivers, born from the idea of blending spirituality with a love for the environment. The loop route spans approximately 105 km, traversing a region rich in history, culture, and biodiversity under the majestic presence of Mount Grappa. Designed to be completed in stages, this trail offers the opportunity to explore ancient churches, hermitages, and unique natural sites, inviting travellers to reflect and connect with nature. The journey begins in the historic town of Bassano del Grappa, where the Cathedral of Santa Maria in Colle majestically overlooks the famous Ponte degli Alpini. Pilgrims can follow the high trail—exploring the slopes of Mount Grappa—or the low trail, winding along hills covered in vineyards and olive groves, until reaching the natural oasis of Garzaia di Pederobba, a site of significant ecological interest. The route is further enriched by optional detours to lesser-known yet remarkably beautiful and historically significant spots, such as ancient small chapels and World War I sites, offering breathtaking panoramas and moments of deep spiritual reflection. Along the way, hikers can admire rare botanical species and spectacular seasonal blooms that showcase the region's rich biodiversity.

Ideal for those seeking an experience that combines physical activity with inner reflection, this journey invites you to set an unhurried pace—savouring every view, sound, and encounter in a passage through both natural landscapes and centuries of history and faith. Starting Point: the cathedral of Santa Maria in Colle, the oldest church in Bassano del Grappa. Perched on high ground offering a sweeping view of the Ponte degli Alpini, it serves as the symbolic starting line for this spiritual and natural journey leading toward the Piave River.

The tourist itinerary "On the Trails of the Ezzelini along the Muson and Lastego" reaches a total length of 40 km. The first section extends for about 19 km, developing mainly along the Muson stream—and for some stretches along the Musonello—through the municipalities of Riese Pio X, Loria, Castello di Godego, Castelfranco Veneto, and Resana. The second section spans roughly 20 km through the municipalities of Pieve del Grappa, Fonte, and Asolo. A first stretch follows the Muson stream from the hamlet of Spineda (in the municipality of Riese Pio X) up to the Antico Maglio in Pagnano d'Asolo. From there, after about two kilometres on foot, you can reach the hamlet of Casonetto in the municipality of Asolo.

The second route branches off from the first at the Scremin Bridge in Pagnano d'Asolo. It skirts the eastern part of the centre of Onè di Fonte and passes through Fonte Alto, following the course of the Lastego stream into the Valle dei Mulini (Valley of the Mills). Running along the border between Crespano and Paderno, it enters the San Pancrazio Nature Park in Crespano, goes up Valderoa street to the Castagner dea Madoneta area, descends along Nova street, and climbs back up to rejoin the Mount Grappa trail network in San Liberale (municipality of Pieve del Grappa). suisentieridegliezzelini.it

Mid-mountain trails

Cammino della Cima

The Peak Trail (Il Cammino della Cima) is one of the most demanding routes among the Mid-Mountain Trails, offering an experience that combines nature, landscape, and history. The route crosses a wide variety of environments, from chestnut groves and beech woods to arid-rocky meadows, subalpine vegetation, and high-altitude pastures, in an area home to over 1,575 plant species. From Ca’ Bottò, the Marmorine trail climbs toward Prai de’ Borso, Campo Croce, Camol, and the Val del Poise, following ancient paths once used for transhumance and transporting goods toward the Feltrino area. As you gain elevation, the itinerary meets the trail network tied to the history of the First World War. The descent from Cima Grappa leads to the Colombera ridge (1,499 m) and CAI trail 104bis, which traverses the southern slope of the Massif through rock faces, woodlands, and striking views, ending at the Don Paolo Chiavacci Center. With extra time, the route can extend to Covolo before looping back to Ca’ Bottò.

Cammino dei cinque Santi

The Trail of the Five Saints (Il Cammino dei Cinque Santi) crosses the villages of Sant’Eulalia, Cassanego, and Crespano, offering a route where nature, history, and religious tradition intertwine. The itinerary allows visitors to rediscover ancient churches, oratories, roadside shrines (capitelli), and places of worship that bear witness to the deep faith of the foothill communities. From Santa Eulalia, an ancient parish church with Roman origins, the path climbs along Via Mussa and Via Rore, passing the Oratory of Saint Andrew and the Church of Saint Eurosia in Cassanego, before reaching Ca’ Bottò. The return journey, through the Val Cassanega, leads to further historical traces: the Shrine of Saint Lucy, the localities of San Vito, San Vittore, and San Prosdocimo, the hamlet of Gherla, and Villa Manfrotto-Canal with the Oratory of the Assumption. The route concludes near the old viaduct of the Decauville light railway—used during World War I to connect Bassano and Crespano—ending at the Savi hamlet (contrada dei Savi). It is a route rich in memory and atmosphere, where the landscape preserves the visible and invisible footprints of local history.

Cammino dei Suoni

The Trail of Sounds (Il Cammino dei Suoni) traverses the foothills below the mountains of Crespano, taking you between the ridges of Mount Frontal and Mount Castel along a network of ancient paths set in a remarkably unspoiled natural environment. The trail’s name reflects the rich tapestry of natural sounds accompanying hikers through the changing seasons: from the quiet of winter to wildlife calls, and from the rushing of streams to the rustle of wind through the trees. It offers a tranquil, evocative setting where human history and the landscape remain in harmonious balance. Starting at Castegner dea Madoneta—a local gathering point and the entrance to the Astego Botanical Garden—the route climbs toward Ca’ Bottò, taking you through Valle Maledetta, the area of Gorgon, Cros de Pasin, Piere Rosse, and the picturesque Valle dei Tre Bus. It then continues past Ceccato Spring, Case Larghi, Case Rigo, and Case Fontanelle, winding among natural springs, streams, stone terrace walls, open fields, and small hamlets that reflect centuries of mountain life. The open fields of I Larghi are particularly noteworthy, having been cultivated since the Middle Ages by the Jerome Monks. This trail is also thought to overlap with part of the ancient Pista dei Veneti, a historical route through the Grappa foothills connecting the Brenta and Piave valleys. The return loop from Ca’ Bottò takes a slightly different path: heading back from Ceccato Spring via Manfrot, Pra’ Secco, and I Cuniali, you cross the stream in Valle della Madonna before climbing back up toward Brusamosca, Piere Rosse, and Cros de Pasin, ending back where you started at Castegner dea Madoneta.

Cammino degli Orizzonti

The Trail of Horizons (Il Cammino degli Orizzonti) is the shortest and most accessible of the Mid-Mountain Trails. Following an initial climb from Ca’ Bottò, the trail continues at a nearly constant altitude to the locality of Martel, where a first viewpoint offers a striking panorama over the Venetian plain and the surrounding Treviso and Bassano regions. Continuing toward Casere Corpon, a second broad view unfolds across the landscape, taking in Col Muson, the Asolo Hills and Montello in the distance. The path then passes through the rustic stone dwellings of Val di Bolle, winding past chestnut groves and an ancient bird-catching lodge, before reaching the Corpon ridge—one of the most distinctive ridges overlooking Crespano, along with Schiba, Castel, and Frontal. This itinerary highlights the unique topography of the southern slope of the Grappa Massif, characterized by its succession of ridges and valleys. It also offers a glimpse into a region rich in history, where significant archaeological finds bear witness to an ancient human presence.
